souvenirs from EXIT festival in Novi Sad
Last friday i was in Lyon, a couple of hours away from Paris to attend LES NUITS SONORES
French best/biggest electronic & beyond music festival. They’ve been doing it for 8 years, it’s kind
of a big thing for us in France. First because something is happening outside of Paris. Lyon is famous for its food (ask for Quenelle or Saucisson Lyonnais), its football team (fuck them!), and LES NUITS SONORES! But most important, because they’ve been bringing the biggest name in the game, when i say biggest, i mean the classiest.
I was pretty excited to be invited (i had to wait 8 years ahahaha!) I don’t know why, but i felt something will happen. Yes I was really happy to be part of this 8th edition. I wanted to share with you how I experienced this special trip…
It all started with an email from my agent, saying the guys were thinking of inviting me for the 2010 edition.
“Hell yeah” i said!
my agent “oops Pedro, i mean they want to invite you for the OFF festival, not in the main thing…”
“ahahahaahh, bastards! but yeah let’s do it, let’s go! fuck it”
Then something happened, magic rain, volcano ashes, i don’t know, something! Maybe Vincent and Pierre (the music heads of the festival) were drunk one night. They proposed me to DJ for kids, yes kids! i mean under 10 years old! and to DJ on the outdoor stage at the festival. Now you start to interest me guys!
I liked the idea and I of course accepted the offer.
LYON here I come!
4pm MINI SONORE, the rave for kids. I did not prepare anything, i just played what i usualy play to their parents. Hundreds of kids were there, ready to rumble (literally). Oh oui, i forgot to tell you i was a bit different…
9pm FOOD FOOD! like a tourist, i went to a “Bouchon” not him! Local food, delicious.
MIDNIGHT entering the festival i was impressed to see the thousands of kids running from one stage to another.
With Carl Craig there, Unkle here, Jesse Rose over there, 2Manydjs, you can imagine how kids were excited, i was too. It was pretty cold, so i asked for a little vodka shot to warm me up. It was very cold so i asked for anoter one…
1:25am “Pedro where are you ? your turn to play” / “sorry sorry guys i was watching Laurent Garnier killing it on stage 2 with his classic “man with the red face” I was lucky enough to come on stage, behind the master jedi Garnier. I saw him for the first time in 1993 in Paris, 17 years later, he is doing whatever he wants, dropping techno like no one else, goosebump. Laurent, cheers to you, et hop another vodka, can i have some red bul too ?
1:30am Time to go on stage, whouaa you guys are a lot! The stage it set up in a mini-van, soundsystem is heavy, Lyon let’s ride!
3am after a little speech, i know microphones are dangerous (especialy when you’re drunk…)
i dropped my closing set weapon Metallica “Masters of puppets” remixed by Justice.
It was one of my favourite DJ set ever. For lots of reasons. One for sure is because you guys made me feel home.

2000 people partying hard
Hands down, LES NUITS SONORES became my favourite European electro festival.
I’d like to thanks Vincent and Pierre for inviting me, loooking after me, and most important trusting me.
