a little story from a repetitive & digital music lover.
It started in 1992 by dancing in raves. Yes i truly believe kids on the dancefloors are part of the
whole musical experience call Techno.
I managed to get a pair of Technics, again, being a Techno head, you have to get your MK2s.
I was running from shop to shop, looking for the 12″ the Djs were playing.
Then I wanted to be the one to do the parties, it was in 1995, I was throwing weekly party in small clubs in Paris.Slowly I ended up behind the decks to close the night, Dj gregory and Dimitri from Paris as teachers, not bad right ?
In 1996 two robots changed my life, offered me some equipments to play with… They are in a way responsible for what you’re going to listen ahahaha
Few years later I launched my own label, Ed Banger records. We are soon celebrating its 8th birthday,
the story continues.

Those 11 little draft beats were produced at home with my MPC2000 between 1997 and 2003.
It was supposed to be Ed Rec’s first album in 2004 (yes yes this is what the Ad says!)
Maybe it’s a good thing it never left my studio…
Instead, we released Dj Mehdi, Justice, Mr Oizo, Krazy Baldhead and Uffie’s albums,
those made me happy and proud.
Oh by the way, this ad was published in December 2003, this is where that stupid BUSY P name
appeared for the very first time. Thanx So Me for sticking that name on my ass for life!

It was last saturday in Paris, CASSIUS were DJing at home front of 2000 people.
James took me to Basquiat show in the afternoon and I took him to party at night.
I am going to do my “emo” boy, but those 3 guys here on the photo were/are key people
in the great musical adventure of my life. James founded Mo’Wax, probably THE label that
make me want to have my own. Ed Banger is a little cousin i like to say.
I bought Zdar’s Flying Fingers in 1995 and met him few months later, since then we stick together.
In the mid 90’s Dj Shadow was the king in the instru-mental music, my real king was La Funk Mob. We are 15 years later and releasing CASSIUS music now on Ed Banger make me think of all those moments. For this and for hundred of other reasons, MERCI James, Hubert et Philippe
3 men, 3 friends, 3 is the magic number.
